Video | Using the Be Happy Documenter Kit with Candace Perkins

Hello, friends! Candace here today to share a fun day-in-the-life spread using the March "Be Happy" Documenter Kit.

This was such a fun kit to work with. I love when I open a kit for the first time and I look through all the cards and embellishments. Each month as I do this, I'll see certain cards and goodies that inspire me right away to tell certain stories. When I was going through this kit and I saw the “Story of Today” card and the morning, afternoon, and evening cards, I knew I had to do a day-in-the-life layout.

I chose a random day and set my alarm for every hour that day to take a photo. At the end of the day, it was so fun to look through my photos and place them in a spread. I chose to make all the photos 3" x 4" and make a two-page 9" x 12" spread. Take a look at the video below to get a peek at how the whole spread came together! Enjoy!

Tips & Tricks:

  • As you go through your kit, separate the cards into possible stories or layouts you may want to tell that month. This is always a great place to start. I never like to hoard my supplies. I like to use the supplies that excite and inspire me to get creative first. This is what getting crafty is all about!
  • Look for fun ways to take everyday photos. Take photos from different angles, perspectives, under different lights, or with different people. It's also fun to look for different angles and line patterns within photos! Once in the spread, these angles and lines always come together to create a more creative and interesting layout.
  • To make the photos in your spread really POP, use monochromatic cards and embellishments. Let the colors in the photos do the talking in the spread.
  • Go see-through! I love adding a see-through element on my pocket page spreads. I love the focus, extra interest, and creativity it brings.

Thanks so much for taking a little time to stop by today and get a little crafty inspiration. Give these tips and tricks a try when your kit arrives. Look through the kit and find the cards and embellishments that inspire you to tell your stories. Don’t hold them for a future “perfect” project—get crafting! Look for different ways to take photos you may have already taken. Once you've collected all your photos and cards, bring contrast to the layout by going monochromatic. Lastly, try adding a see-through element on your page for a little more fun!

I would love to see how you used the fun cards and embellishments in the "Be Happy" Kit with these fun tips and tricks.

Have a beautiful day!
