Sunday Sketch | Candace Perkins

This week our scrapbook sketch is an 8.5" x 11" layout featuring layered and stitched strips of patterned papers on the left side of the page with a repeating title and photo slightly offset from the center. Our notebook sketch has a grid of eight photos on the left page and journaling on the right with a cluster of embellishments in the upper right-hand corner. And our pocket page sketch features a 4" x 6" title card with a central focal element and a 3" x 4" photo with stamped sentiment in the upper left-hand corner. Creative Team member Candace Perkins is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's scrapbook sketch! Be sure to follow Candace here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Marcy Penner's Fresh Flowers / SB Main layout:

Our notebook sketch comes from Marcy Penner's Hello Spring spread:

And our pocket page sketch comes from Barbara Picinich's Bookmarked Documenter | April 2017 spread:

And here's Candace's take on our scrapbook sketch:

I love working with sketches! I love that my layouts can come together in a snap when I use the inspiration that a sketch provides. For my layout, I used the sketch based on Marcy Penner’s beautiful 8.5" x 11" scrapbook page.

I wanted to change up my layout a bit so I turned the design on its side and changed the layout to a 12" x 12" spread. I kept the basic design of layered paper adhered with stitching (I love this look!). Using stamps from the new On My Way collection, I stamped sentiments along the horizontal plane of the layout.

For a final touch, I added fabric labels to coordinating papers. This is such a great design. I love the clean lines and the focus on the photo. How will you be inspired to use the sketch?

Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by April 9th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the April 14th Layout of the Week post.

I was inspired by the Travelers notebook sketch and the spring theme in Marcy Penner's lovely notebook spread. I've used the right side of the sketch to make a scrapbook layout https://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/211246-spring

    Thanks for the inspiration!

ps. I am so happy, my March kits finally arrived. Yay!

A layout inspired by the scrapbook sketch. My intention was to follow the sketch 'to a t' and do some sewing on it, but unfortunatelly my sewing machine caught fire and my layout took a path of it's own ;)

@JaneD a sewing machine catching fire? That is a first. Scary too!

Yes,@CeliseMcL it was a bit scary, and a first for me too. I was making some quilts for my new grandsons and was in a bit of a hurry so I was sewing very fast. Some "fluff" from the quilts must have gotten into the machine (that probably got overheated) and caught fire. Luckily nobody got hurt.

I just had to use the pocket page sketch. I was going to make a PL spread but ended up doing a scrapbooking layout instead using the sketch for the 4x6 card https://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/211313-don-t-grow-up

    Thank you for the inspiration!

I used the pocket page sketch as inspiration for a notebook layout. I turned the left side of the sketch on its side. https://studiocalico.com/galleries/211317-sold
