Hi, everyone. I’m Jenn Picard and I'm so excited to be a guest designer this month using the "Golden Hour" Documenter Kit! I'm a 40-something mom, dog lover, paper crafter, freelance makeup artist, and self-professed mamarazzi. I live in beautiful British Columbia, Canada with my chef husband, three children, and two goofy and adorable basset hounds.

My journey into paper crafting started over 10 years ago when I decided I wanted to make my own Christmas cards that year. After that first encounter with ink, paper, and stamps, I was hooked. I quickly added scrapbooking to my new-found obsession, originally starting with traditional 12" x 12" pages and, over the years, I've played around with many different sizes and styles when it comes to scrapping. I believe that scrapbooking should always be what suits your needs best; photos in an album are always better than in a box or on your phone or computer! I love pocket scrapbooking for exactly that reason. I still switch up sizes, using both 12" x 12", 9" x 12", and various inserts in my 12" x 12" album. I enjoy mixing in traditional layouts with my pocket pages and am not a hard-core chronological scrapper. I try to keep my album organized by month, but some months could have many layouts while others just a few. That for me is the fun of documenting; there are no hard and fast rules.

This Moment – The "Golden Hour" Documenter Kit is full of gorgeous colors and fun embellishments. I love that there are a great mix of color and B&W cards this month. For this page, I used photos taken of my youngest daughter; the chipboard pieces were the perfect fit to go with the overall theme of this page and to express my daughter perfectly! I also love mixing B&W photos with color, and it was a great way to create balance on this spread, helping to make the floral with black background 4" x 6" card pop.

Let’s Do This – I couldn’t have been happier to see the color palette when I first received my kit. I knew it would be great for scrapping photos of both my daughter and my son. Sometimes I find it hard to create pages with a more masculine feel, but "Golden Hour" totally fits the bill. The photos of my son and his team playing soccer matched perfectly with the blues and oranges of the cards. One thing you will notice consistently with my work is that I love adding stamping or embellishments, such as chipboard pieces, directly on my photos. I like how it can draw interest to the picture with overpowering it.

Follow the Rainbow – This 10" x 12" insert has my heart. The cards I chose for this page were very carefully selected to reflect the special time these cousins spent together. The bright sunny colors complement their beautiful smiles. Recently we got to spend four days with some of my family while my son was playing in the BC Summer Games. My 12-year-old niece has been battling leukemia since July of last year and, she and my youngest are the best of friends. It's memories like these that are why I scrapbook. Again, I applied chipboard pieces directly to the photos and also added a little strip of washi to add some color and contrast.
