Sunday Sketch | Carson Riutta

This week our scrapbook sketch is a 9" x 12" layout featuring thick strips of patterned paper at the top of the page and a square photo on the far right-hand side, with embellishing and title around the photo. Our card sketch has a circular focal point at the top of the card with simple embellishment underneath. And our pocket page sketch features a 3" x 4" journaling card and a 3" x 4" title card with embellishments peeking out from behind a photo. Creative Team member  Carson Riutta is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's card sketch! Be sure to follow Carson here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Anna-Maria Wolniak's I Collect Memories with You layout:

Our card sketch comes from Lisa Spangler's Love You card:

And our pocket page sketch comes from Kelly Noel's Jan 2017 spread:

And here's Carson's take on our card sketch:

Happy sketch day, my Studio Calico lovelies! Before becoming a member of the Creative Team, I rarely participated in these sketch challenges but now it's become one of my absolute favorite ways to play along. I love how varied the sketches are from week to week, and I love how they're linked to the original project so you can sketch a little, lift a little, and basically be flooded with inspiration! I hope you'll join us today!

For this week's project, I chose to work with the card sketch based on Lisa's gorgeous wreath card. I had nearly killed my "Homestead" Documenter Kit so I loved the idea of building a form with all the beautiful bits and pieces left over. I added the gold alpha and the wispy foliage stamps from the More Details Kit, and I even pulled in a few of the wooden tags and enamel dots from the Making Spirits Bright Bundle.

My favorite thing about this layout is just how shiny it is with all the foil details, the bronze stars, and the gold alpha to give it that rich, warm, glamorous feeling.

I'll have to add a note to my album for this layout: "viewed best in the sunlight for that added sparkle."

Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by November 27th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the December 2nd Layout of the Week post.

I made some note cards using a (very) scaled down version of the card sketch.
