Holiday Crop | Use Journaling Cards

Tis the season of paper crafting everything merry and bright! For some holiday fun, we're issuing ten festive challenges based on Creative Team projects. We hope you'll play along!

This challenge comes from CT member Maggie Massey based on her project, French Hens Holiday Market.

I came across this photo when organizing some of my scrap stuff. My friend, Sarah, took it a few years ago, and it's one of my favorites. I added it to the top of my 9" x 12" page, adhered some paper strips from the collection to both the top and bottom, typed a few lines of journaling onto one of the documenter cards, and added a few stamps and embellishments to finish out this layout. It came together really quickly, and I love the look of the non-traditional Christmas colors...they make me so happy!

Journaling cards are versatile and can be used for any type of project. They are the perfect spot to add journaling to a scrapbook page as well. For this challenge, try using a journal card on a project other than a documenter page.

Let's see how you use journaling cards for a chance to win a $10 GC to the Studio Calico shop! Your project can be holiday or non-holiday related. When you complete this challenge, upload it to the member gallery and leave a link to your project in the comments below. See all of our holiday challenges here.

I cut the Journaling card to suit the notebook size. I also stamped my embellishment on the piece of the Journaling card I cut off!

I cut up a Journaling card for this layout. I placed one thin piece on the left of the photo, then I flipped the other piece over and used it on the right hand side of the photo for journaling.

Another one! This challenge really makes me think outside the box for my documentor cards. I cut up a 3x4 card for the title place mat and punched a photo corner out of the leftovers. https://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/208256-holiday-crop-3-challenges-on-one-layout

I really wish @maggiemassey would just photograph the layout and not have all the random stuff scattered around. It is very hard to focus on the layout this way.

I was only going to use one journaling card to do my journaling on, but instead I ended up using five of them and used them to mat my photo. I really enjoyed this challenge, I love using journaling cards on layouts, or on cards.
    Thanks for the challenge!

Used a journal card on my layout for my title and to hide my notes.
